PSEG Long Island, the operating company for the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) on behalf of LIPA, plans to build a new, modern mixed-use facility on approximately 7 acres of LIPA owned property located at the southwest corner of Duryea Road and Maxess Road in the hamlet of Melville, Town of Huntington. The new facility will be used to increase operational efficiencies, enhance reliability, introduce new technology in a storm hardened building that will meet future growth demands, and enhance service to the regional electric transmission and distribution system. 

Project Specifics
The project will consist of a two-story office building totaling 98,072 square feet. The building will have a maximum height of approximately 52 feet, which is consistent with other nearby two-and three-story office and commercial buildings. The facility will be used exclusively as an office building and will not serve as an operations yard. No line trucks, heavy equipment, or utility operations vehicles will be stored, staged, or dispatched from the property. The project will include 137 on-site parking spaces for employees. The property will be attractively landscaped and enclosed with an aesthetically pleasing fence to complement the surrounding area. 

Project Timeline
Construction is expected to begin in February 2026 with anticipated completion December 2027. Crews will be working Monday – Friday from approximately 7 AM – 5 PM, with occasional shorter workdays from 7 AM – 3 PM. Weekend work will occur as needed. PSEG Long Island does not anticipate traffic interruptions. However, we will provide cones, flagmen and signage at the work sites, as needed.
