To Upgrade or Change Your Electrical Service
You may start your request at any time. If you need to gather information, you may pause for up to 13 days and resume the request, or you will need to start over. You will save a draft request and receive an e-mail with a draft number. To resume the request, go to the resume request site, copy and paste that number and provide the last name as it is displayed.
A service change / upgrade is used when electric work is done to repair or bring more power to a currently active service structure. If you'd like to change / upgrade your electric service, complete the following steps.
- A digital copy of your electrical inspection certificate. This document is required for ALL new services and/or service changes. Note: If your service location is in the Rockaway Peninsula, you will need a New York City Permit. You can request a copy of this document from your electrician.
- For services of 300 amps or less, complete the necessary fields in the above online submittal, the assistance of your electrician may be necessary.
- For service sizes of 400 amps or more and all commercial services, attach a digital load letter that has been completed by your electrician to the above online submittal. This will identify the load and rate of the service at your location, the assistance of your electrician may be necessary.

Based on the load and the specifications of your installation, a payment and/or deposit may be required. When you are completing your online request, specify whether you or your electrician should receive the invoice, and include a mailing address. Submit your online request with the necessary attachments.
After You Apply
We will review your request and provide a response as soon as possible. You will receive a reference number for your project. Keep this number handy, as you will need it to make inquiries about your service request.
