Educational Programs
Get smart about energy
PSEG Long Island provides complimentary educational resources to schools and youth organizations throughout our service area. Our age-appropriate presentations cover critical topics like staying safe around electricity and preparing for severe weather. Beyond youth education, we offer critical infrastructure training for first responders, equipping police and fire personnel with the technical skills needed to manage electrical hazards safely.
Earth Month Video Contest (Grades 4-12)
In celebration of Earth Day (April 22) participating teachers across Long Island and the Rockaways are provided the education materials and programming needed to create a short Public Service Announcement (PSA) video about environmental topics, such as energy efficiency and conservation. Winning PSAs are highlighted here and on social media. Congrats and thank you to all that participate!

With real-world scenarios of potential hazards, students learn about the potential dangers in their own neighborhoods or daily life and what do if faced with such a situation. The program culminates in a creative poster project, empowering kids to "look, think, do, and share" vital safety tips to prevent injuries.

Touch-A-Truck (Grades 3-6)
Similar to Electric Safety Town, Touch-A-Truck is a popular interactive program where students get up close to a real PSEG Long Island bucket truck. During this presentation, a trained professional in full gear guides students through an interactive, up close and personal, hands-on look in and around the truck to demonstrate how it works, how it is used and why. Discussion of safety measures and Q&A conclude this demonstration.
