East Islip and Great River Conversion and Reinforcement

Reliability Projects

We're making upgrades to enhance our system's ability to withstand extreme weather and meet energy demands.

Project Overview

The PSEG Long Island East Islip and Great River Conversion and Reinforcement Project was designed to deliver the reliable electric power required by the Town of East Islip and the Great River area businesses and residents. The project relieves distribution system overloads, provides improved reliability, reduces distribution system congestion and storm hardens the areas. This investment makes the electric service more reliable for thousands of customers in the East Islip and Great River communities. PSEG Long Island worked closely with local officials to keep them informed about the project and worked to minimize any potential disruptions to residents.

PSEG Long Island constructed a new circuit to support the area which resulted in about 1.5 miles of construction. This included both the overhead and underground work.

This project was completed in June 2017.
