Cedar Lane Project

Reliability Projects

We're making upgrades to enhance our system's ability to withstand extreme weather and meet energy demands.

Project Specifics

This project was completed in April 2019.

As part of an overall project to improve electric reliability and pedestrian safety in your area, PSEG Long Island will be replacing and upgrading equipment. Specifically, we will:

  • Replace 10 existing wood poles on the south side of Cedar Lane with new wood poles on the north side of Cedar Lane.
  • Replace two existing wood poles on the north side of Cedar Lane.
  • Install one new wood pole on the south side of Cedar Lane at Prospect Avenue.
  • Replace one existing wood pole on Cedar Lane at Park Street with a new wood pole to the southeast on Park Street.

These upgrades will ensure that you and your neighbors receive safe, reliable and resilient power for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the timeline for the project?
Crews will begin work in late November.
  • What are the work hours?
Crews are expected to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Will there be tree trimming?
Trees growing near power lines significantly increase the chance of power outages and pose safety risks. As we expand and improve our electric circuits, we will trim trees, where necessary, following our utility best practice model developed by the International Society of Arboriculture: 8 feet to each side; 12 feet above; and 10 feet below the conductor.
  • Will there be any power outages?
To complete this work, a few brief, localized power outages may be required. In the event that a brief outage is required, all affected customers will be notified in advance.
  • Will there be any traffic interruptions?
There may be traffic and parking disruptions while the work is performed along the project route. To ensure traffic moves safely, PSEG Long Island will provide cones, flagmen and signage at the work sites, as needed. Local officials will be notified in advance regarding any traffic concerns.
  • Whom can I contact for more information?
Customers with questions about the project may contact PSEG Long Island Customer Service at 1-800-490-0025 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

As always, customer and employee safety is our primary concern. Please be cautious when travelling near our construction work zones.
