Bridgehampton to Buell New 69kV Underground Cable
Project Specifics
PSEG Long Island will install a new 69KV transmission line in new underground conduit within the public right of way between the Bridgehampton substation in Bridgehampton and the Buell substation in East Hampton. These upgrades will ensure that you and your neighbors receive safe, reliable electric power for years to come.
Project Location
The project will head north on Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike from the Bridgehampton substation, then east on Jermain Avenue to Madison Street, south on Madison Street to Harrison Street, and east on Harrison Street to Route 114. The project will than proceed south on Route 114 to the intersection of Route 114 and Cove Hollow Road. The cable will cross the road, travel across adjacent parcels owned by New York State and LIPA, and then pass beneath the LIRR tracks and enter the north side of the Buell substation.
Project Timeline
Construction began in January of 2025 with anticipated completion December 2025.

- What are the work hours?
Crews will be working Monday – Friday from approximately 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, except on Route 114 where crews will be working from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Some weekend and night work may be scheduled to alleviate weekday community activities. No night work is planned to occur within the Village of Sag Harbor. If night work becomes required, customers in the affected areas will be notified in advance. - Will there be tree trimming?
Minimal incidental tree trimming required for construction equipment clearances. At the eastern end of the project route, an area will be cleared to allow for installation of the circuit under the Long Island Rail Row right-of-way. - Will the project include new poles or pole replacements?
No, all work will be performed underground. - Will there be any power outages?
PSEG Long Island does not anticipate any planned power outages related to this project. However, if the need for an outage arises, customers will be notified in advance. - Will there be any traffic interruptions?
There will be traffic disruptions along the project route as installation occurs. To ensure traffic moves safely, PSEG Long Island will provide cones, flaggers, and signage at the work sites, as needed. - Do you have permission to do this work?
