Time-of-Day (“TOD”) Rates Terms and Conditions

Please read the following Terms and Conditions of PSEG Long Island's Time-of-Day Rates.

Bill Protection Guarantee

A bill protection guarantee for up to 12 billing months will be provided to only those customers who: (i) were billed under Rate Code 180 at their current service address and who are migrated to or request enrollment in Rate Code 194 (i.e., TOD Off-Peak) or Rate Code 195 (i.e., TOD Super Off-Peak) through the last scheduled customer migration; or (ii) are new residential accounts that do not qualify for Rate Code 580 (space heating) and are assigned or request enrollment in Rate Code 194 or 195 through the last scheduled customer migration.

The bill protection guarantee will be provided as follows:

  • At the end of the first 12 billing months following a customer’s transition to Rate Code 194 or 195, PSEG Long Island will calculate what the customer’s bills would have been under Rate Code 180 for the same energy usage and, if lower, credit the difference on the next monthly bill.
  • Customers that terminate their service or transfer to a Rate Code other than 194 or 195 before the first 12 months of billing have occurred will have their bill protection guarantee calculated up to that date of termination or transfer and receive the applicable credit in their next bill.
  • Customers that transfer to another eligible Rate Code will see the rate change effective as of the date of their last issued bill.

The following groups are not eligible for bill protection:

Customers on Rates 181, 182, 184, 188, and 480/481; customers on Rate 580 (space heating); and customers on any of the legacy Time-of-Use rates (i.e., 190, 191, 192, 193).

Actual savings are based on daily energy use patterns.

Migration and Voluntarily Enrollment

At this time, the following customers are exempt from automated migration to Rate Code 194:

  • Customers on the 181, 182, 184, 188, and 480/481 rates;
  • Customers on Rate 580 (space heating);
  • Customers on legacy Time-of-Use rates (i.e., 190, 191, 192, 193);
  • Customers who voluntarily enroll in Rate Code 195 (i.e., TOD Super Off-Peak);
  • Life Support System registered customers;
  • Customers who are on the Household Assistance Rate that are classified by PSEG Long Island as non-benefiters at the time of group assignment or any Tier 4 discount rate customer.

At this time, the following customers will be neither migrated to Rate Code 194 nor eligible to voluntarily enroll in Rate Codes 194 or 195:

  • Non-residential rate codes;
  • Customers that do not have an AMI-equipped Smart Meter;
  • Accounts with AMI communication barriers;
  • Customers participating in Long Island Choice (including Community Choice Aggregation) and Green Choice.

Community Distributed Generation (“CDG”)

  • Residential customers enrolled in CDG projects may voluntarily enroll in Rate Code 194.
  • Residential customers enrolled in CDG projects may voluntarily enroll in Rate Code 195 (i.e., TOD Super Off-Peak) only with the agreement of their CDG Host, as such term is defined in the Long Island Power Authority Tariff for Electric Service. CDG Hosts may un-enroll satellite accounts that enroll in Rate Code 195.

Disenrollment and Opt-Out

Customers enrolled in Rate Code 194 or 195 may transfer to another eligible rate code at any time.

Customers that choose to transfer out of Rate Code 194/195 to a flat rate are not eligible to return to Rate Code 194 or 195 for a period of 12 months from their date of transfer.

Customers on legacy Time-of-Use rates (i.e., 190, 191, 192, 193) who voluntarily enroll in 194 or 195 will not be able to re-enroll back into any of the legacy Time-of-Use rates.

Customers enrolled in Rate Code 180 and who wish to opt-out of migration to Rate Code 194 and remain on Rate Code 180 may do so:

  • By clicking the opt-out link provided in the email notification to the customer indicating that the customer’s account will be migrated to Rate Code 194;
  • By visiting www.psegliny.com/TimeOfDay/RateCalculator and logging into My Account to compare rates;
  • By downloading the PSEG Long Island Mobile App; or
  • By calling PSEG Long Island’s Customer Service team at 1-800-490-0025.
