Freeport Resident and her PSEG Long Island Coworkers Provide Complete Thanksgiving Meals for Neighbors in Need

(UNIONDALE, N.Y. – Nov. 23, 2021) On Friday, Nov. 19, a group of PSEG Long Island employees, including Gwendolyn Joseph of Freeport, distributed turkeys and all the trimmings to four organizations across the company’s service area so their neighbors in need could enjoy festive Thanksgiving meals.

Forty turkeys, along with stuffing, string beans, corn, yams, macaroni and cheese, rice, cornbread mix, cake mix and frosting were safely hand delivered to the Bellport Hagerman East Patchogue Alliance in Bellport, The Community Exchange of Central Islip in Central Islip, The Salvation Army in Hempstead and St. Mary Star of the Sea and St. Gertrude Parish Food Pantry in Far Rockaway. The Thanksgiving meals will be distributed by the organizations to people in the community.

“It is important for us to help our neighbors, especially those who have fallen on difficult times,” said Chantel Dixon, one of the PSEG Island employees involved in the effort. “I am proud to be part of an organization that gives back to the community, and specifically the community where I live and work.”

Giving back to the community is part of PSEG Long Island’s culture. During the holiday season and throughout the year, PSEG Long Island employees participate in community service projects and make personal monetary donations to not-for-profit groups that support veterans, people facing food insecurity and homelessness, and more.
