PSEG Long Island Is Ready for Another Rain and Wind Storm

(Uniondale, NY – Oct. 31, 2019) — PSEG Long Island is prepared for the rain and hazardous winds forecasted for the service area later today and into tomorrow. The arriving storm may bring wind gusts up to 55 mph, which could cause outages.

“This forecast indicates a significant chance of hazardous wind gusts capable of toppling trees, and falling trees often take down power lines,” said John O’Connell, vice president of transmission & distribution at PSEG Long Island. “We are closely monitoring the weather and our crews will be positioned to respond safely and as quickly as possible to any service interruptions.”

PSEG Long Island has been working nonstop since 2014 to make the electric infrastructure more resilient to extreme weather. From storm hardening upgrades to ongoing enhanced tree maintenance, the company’s proactive work allows the system to better withstand extreme weather.
