PSEG Long Island and Two Kings Barber Shop Make the Cut for Veterans

(Uniondale, N.Y. — Feb. 6, 2019) — In an effort to give back to veterans who have given so much to their country, PSEG Long Island recently partnered with Two Kings Barber Shop of Blue Point to spend the day providing free haircuts at the John J. Lynch Veterans Place in Yaphank.

The John J. Lynch Veterans Place provides essential support services for homeless veterans, including staffing full-time case managers who assist homeless veterans to live self-sufficient, independent lives.

PSEG Long Island employee Ken Arnold connected the barbers to the veterans housing organization and PSEG Long Island sponsored the daylong event with lunch and refreshments. Barbers Joe and Tom Rubino, Tess Whitby and Nicole Ziccardi from Two Kings Barber Shop spent the day giving 14 veterans complimentary haircuts.

“A small gesture can mean so much,” said organizer Ken Arnold. “This was an amazing example of how PSEG Long Island cares about and supports our communities.”

The barbers said they will definitely be back. “This is the least we could do for a group that has given so much,” said Two Kings owner Joe Rubino. “As much as we were able to make an impact on some veterans, they made their own through gratitude and grace.”

PSEG Long Island is committed to giving back to the people and communities it serves by actively supporting hundreds of local charity events each year through the company’s Community Partnership Program.  Last year, PSEG Long Island employees logged 26,000 service hours volunteering at 1,145 fundraising and community events to support more than 400 organizations.
