PSEG Long Island Provides St. Francis Hospital for Animals with Grants and Rebates at New Oakdale Location

(UNIONDALE, N.Y. – Jan. 20, 2026)  PSEG Long Island has given a $25,000 Main Street Revitalization grant under its Business First program and thousands of dollars in energy efficiency rebates to St. Francis Hospital for Animals. The veterinary hospital recently relocated to a new building on Montauk Highway in Oakdale, where it created an energy-saving space and 17 new jobs.

The energy efficiency rebates, which totaled more than $11,000, included 147 LED light fixtures and four heat pumps – both ducted and mini split systems. The hospital also qualified for PSEG Long Island’s Vacant Space program, which will provide electric bill credits for the first year at the new location.

“PSEG Long Island provides rebates for business owners that include environmentally conscious measures when they renovate space. By making significant upgrades in heating, cooling and lighting, St. Francis Hospital for Animals reaped a large reward and will continue to enjoy the financial benefits into the future."

-  Michael Voltz, Director of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, PSEG Long Island

“With PSEG Long Island’s Business First program, we help small and medium sized business owners, like St. Francis Hospital for Animals, by providing grants, rebates and Business First Advocates as personal concierge for busy business owners,” said Veronica Isaac, PSEG Long Island senior manager of Economic Development. “We congratulate St. Francis Hospital for Animals on its lovely new facility to care for our beloved pets. Small businesses are the backbone of our community, and we are proud to support the hospital’s success.”

"Working with the economic development team at PSEG Long Island was a game changer,” said Dr. Keith Parendo, veterinarian and owner of St. Francis Hospital for Animals. “We were able to take advantage of energy efficiency rebates for new equipment that was installed, which paid us back in two ways: the rebate check that defrayed the cost of the equipment and our lower operating expenses going forward. Both lighting and HVAC [heating, ventilation and air conditioning] equipment were eligible for the rebates. Another huge benefit was PSEG Long Island’s Main Street Revitalization program that gave us a large sum of our costs back in a grant, which allowed for us to hire new staff. Thank you, PSEG Long Island for helping our small business continue to grow!"

For the past eight years, PSEG Long Island has provided millions of dollars to small and medium-sized businesses through grants and bill credits. The programs include:

  • Main Street Revitalization grants, which this business received, are available for the completion of projects to help improve the economic stability and growth of a municipality. Since 2018, PSEG Long Island has given out Main Street Revitalization grants totaling $2.1 million to support more than 80 local renovation projects. Over the past eight years, the grants have helped business owners create nearly 1,400 local jobs, including this project, which created 17 new positions.
  • PSEG Long Island’s Vacant Space Revival program, which provides up to $10,000 in electric bill discounts for a new business’ first year, which is often financially difficult. Since 2018, more than half a million dollars has been given to nearly 200 business customers under this program.
  • PSEG Long Island’s Thrive grants, created in 2020 as a direct response to the pandemic, are offered to local chambers of commerce and business improvement districts for beautification and downtown improvement projects to help their members. This grant, worth up to $10,000 for each organization, has provided nearly $800,000 to support local business communities over the last six years.
  • Energy efficiency rebates from PSEG Long Island are available for qualifying heating, cooling, ventilation and insulation projects and electric vehicle charger installations.
