Project Overview

PSEG Long Island will be upgrading electrical equipment at the Far Rockaway substation within the existing substation property lines. The project is needed to help support existing and future electrical demand in the area. PSEG Long Island continues to make improvements to its energy infrastructure in order to increase reliability and minimize outages affecting our customers. We are committed to making every effort to ensure our grid is resilient during storms.

Project Route
The Far Rockaway substation is located on Bay 24th Street north of Mott Avenue in Far Rockaway.

Project Timeline
Construction is expected to begin in September 2020 with an anticipated completion date in June 2021

    Crews will be working Monday – Friday from approximately 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Will the project include tree trimming?
    No.
  • Will there be any power outages?
    PSEG Long Island does not anticipate any power outages related to this project. In the event that a brief outage is required, all affected customers will be notified in advance.
  • Will there be any traffic interruptions?
    PSEG Long Island does not anticipate any traffic interruptions related to this project.
