Town of Riverhead Projects

PSEG Long Island is committed to delivering best-in-class system reliability to our customers and to hardening the system to better withstand extreme weather like Superstorm Sandy. Strengthening key electric circuits in your neighborhood will improve the reliability of the electric grid for thousands of our customers. We are working closely with local officials on this project, keeping them informed and working to minimize potential disruptions.

  • Riverhead to Eastport Reconductoring
    Completed June 2017
PSEG Long Island will reconductor a 69 kilovolt (kv) cable from the Riverhead substation to the Eastport substation and the entire circuit will be reinsulated and reconductored.
  • Riverhead Conversion and Reinforcement Project
    Completed December 2015
PSEG Long Island will replace poles that have reached the end of their life or are inadequate; and install overhead wires that are more durable and have higher capacity. We will also install a new underground feeder cable that will exit the Riverhead Substation just east of Mill Road on West Main Street, heading east to Raynor Avenue. This will connect a new circuit from the substation to existing distribution lines. The work will take place along Northville Turnpike, Osborne Avenue, Raynor Avenue, Pulaski Street and West Main Street.
