PSEG Long Island Announces Its 2026 Grants and Financial Incentive Programs for Business Customers
Hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants and rebates offered for EV charger installations, revitalizing communities and more
(UNIONDALE, N.Y. – March 6, 2026) PSEG Long Island is announcing its 2026 Business First financial incentive programs for business customers, which include grants of up to $125,000 and up to hundreds of thousands of dollars in energy efficiency rebates for EV charger installations, heating, cooling and more.
Ninety percent of Long Island companies are classified as small businesses, making up the backbone of Long Island, supporting the economy, community and workforce. PSEG Long Island’s Business First programs are designed to foster vitality and growth of a business district and create jobs. Since these programs began in 2018, PSEG Long Island has distributed more than $3.4 million in grants to hundreds of local small businesses.
Some of the ways PSEG Long Island supports small business owners include economic development grants and energy efficiency rebate incentives, which include:
PSEG Long Island’s Community Thrive grants provides funding of up to $10,000 to chambers of commerce, business improvement districts and civic associations to fund community projects in their downtowns that promote dining and shopping. Awards in areas designated by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) as Disadvantaged Communities (DAC) areas may be eligible for an extra 25% bonus. Nonprofit organizations may receive an additional 10%. Thrive applications will be accepted through Sept. 30, 2026.
PSEG Long Island’s Main Street Revitalization grant is a direct to business grant of $2,500 – $100,000 to help encourage investment, vitality and growth of local business districts. The grant offers financial incentive awards for customers undertaking renovation or expansion projects to start or grow their business; projects must be approved by PSEG Long Island prior to the start of construction. The application considers positive economic impact to a downtown area, job creation and benefits to the community. Eligible projects may include interior renovations, façade improvements and streetscape improvements. An additional 25% bonus may apply for businesses in NYSERDA DAC communities. Nonprofit organizations may qualify for a 10% award bonus.
PSEG Long Island’s Vacant Space Revival Program provides qualified new business customers up to $10,000 in electric bill credits for their first 12 months in business. Designed to encourage occupancy of commercial space that has been vacant for a period of one year or more, this program supports a new business’ first, often most difficult, year in business.
For energy efficiency projects, PSEG Long Island is offering free energy assessments, rebates on heat pump water heaters, refrigeration equipment, heating and cooling heat pump devices, ventilation equipment and compressors for 2026. The financial incentives include rebates for multi-family dwellings on heating and cooling systems of $4,000 per apartment, or $5,000 for apartments in NYSERDA-deemed DACs. Heating and cooling rebates of up to $1,200 are available for specified ENERGY STAR listed heat pump water heaters. Additional incentives and enhanced rebates are available for other approved energy savings and electrification measures through PSEG Long Island’s Custom Program.
PSEG Long Island’s Transportation Electrification Program offers robust financial incentives for business owners installing EV chargers at their places of business, multi-family buildings and other approved locations. Pairing these financial incentives with PSEG Long Island’s special EV Phase-In Rate, helps customers offset bill costs. Under PSEG Long Island’s EV Make Ready Program, up to $45,000 is available for each Level 2 and DC Fast Charger plug, and up to $100,000 in infrastructure upgrades to install the chargers.
For businesses with a vehicle fleet, PSEG Long Island offers its complimentary Fleet Advisory Service. Business owners can connect with an EV fleet specialist to learn more about available incentives and rebates, and discover how their business can demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and clean energy by electrifying their fleet.
Business customers interested in replacing their gas-powered vehicle fleets with electric vehicles may be eligible for PSEG Long Island’s Fleet Make Ready Program, which provides up to $200,000 in incentives to build the infrastructure required to power electric vehicle fleets.
The best way for business owners to find out more about these incentives, grants and rebates is to connect with PSEG Long Island’s unique Business FIRST Advocates (BFA). BFAs offer a personal concierge service for PSEG Long Island’s small business owners providing solutions, information and time-saving account services.
PSEG Long Island’s personal attention to its business customers and its robust grant programs are two of the reasons the company was ranked No. 1 among large electric utilities in the East in the 2025 J.D. Power Business Customer Satisfaction Study. The recognition reflects feedback directly from small business customers and underscores the company’s commitment to delivering meaningful support.
