Voluntary Time-of-Use
Closed to New Enrollments as of September 15, 2023
Voluntary Time-of-Use Rates (Rates 190, 191, 192 and 193) are closed to new enrollments as of September 15, 2023. Accounts currently enrolled in one of these rates will be able to remain enrolled past that date. Customers can continue to enjoy savings on the voluntary Time-of-Use Rates by shifting energy use to Off-Peak and overnight Super Off-Peak hours, which will remain discounted up to 40% off the Flat Rate.
The New Time-of-Day Rate
Starting in 2024, eligible accounts* will be moved to the new Time-of-Day (TOD) Rate
This move will not affect customers on any of the Voluntary Time-of-Use Rates (Rates 190, 191, 192 and 193), as we will not move those accounts to the new TOD Rate. However, the TOD Rate will be available as an option. There will also be an optional Super Off-Peak Rate Plan with Peak, Off-Peak and Super Off-Peak times. If you decide to try either of these new rates, you will not be able to reenroll back into any of the Voluntary Time-of-Use Rates.

* If PSEG Long Island moves an account from the current 180 rate to the new Time-of-Day (TOD) Rate, the customer will be eligible for bill protection for up to 12 months. This means they will receive a credit if they would have been billed less on the 180 flat rate over the same period. The calculations will be based on the cumulative difference of each month’s electric rates while on the plan. Eligible 180 customers who voluntarily enroll in the TOD or Super Off-Peak Rate will also receive bill protection for the time they were on the TOD or Super Off-Peak Rate up to 12 months. Customers who disenroll from TOD or the Super Off-Peak rate earlier than the 12 months will receive bill protection for the time they were on the TOD or Super Off-Peak Rate only.
The following groups will not be eligible for bill protection: customers on 181, 182, 184, 188, M188, and 480/481 rate, customers on rate 580 (electric heating), customers on the VTOU rates (190, 191, 192, 193) and new residential customers after January 1, 2024.
