PSEG Long Island Employees Make Strides Against Breast Cancer
More than $52,000 has been raised so far in support of the American Cancer Society
(UNIONDALE, N.Y. – Oct. 14, 2022) Hundreds of PSEG Long Island employees, their family members and friends donned their pink and became breast cancer fighters this month, raising more than $52,000 to date as part of the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) two Long Island Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks.
On Sunday, Oct. 16, more than 300 walkers spent a beautiful morning at Jones Beach participating with 65.000 other cancer fighters. With bright pink and black hats and gloves, members of Team PSEG Long Island raised funds, celebrated survivors and increased awareness about breast cancer by walking in the annual event.
Earlier in the month despite a driving rain, dozens of PSEG Long Island employees, including interim president and COO David Lyons participated in the east end Making Strides walk in Riverhead.
“I am proud of our employees and their commitment to fighting breast cancer through these awareness walks,” said Lyons. “We all know someone affected by cancer. Thanks to the American Cancer Society, we can walk together to eradicate it.”
PSEG Long Island has been a flagship sponsor of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer for almost 10 years. PSEG Long Island and its 21 employee teams raised more than $52,000 for the cause – the figure does not yet include monies that will be added through the PSEG Foundation’s matching gifts program.
