PSEG Long Island Employees Help Celebrate Drive Electric Week
Shannon Hewlett and Anna Keselman spread the word in Copiague about PSEG Long Island’s electric vehicle incentives
(UNIONDALE, N.Y. – Sept. 30, 2022) — In honor of National Drive Electric Week (Sept. 23 to Oct. 2), PSEG Long Island employees Shannon Hewlett and Anna Keselman recently volunteered their time at a weekend electric vehicle showcase in Copiague, informing attendees about the incentives the company provides for smart chargers to help accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles.
Hewlett and Keselman are part of a PSEG Long Island employee business resource group whose shared interest is protecting the environment and promoting greener forms of energy.
“It was a great experience to be out at this showcase, meeting so many people and sharing news about the ways they can save on smart chargers in their homes,” said Hewlett.
“Long Islanders have an amazing opportunity to reduce carbon emissions by adopting electric vehicles. We want them to know that, for many, it is a practical, feasible choice,” said Keselman.
Incentives for PSEG Long Island customers
PSEG Long Island customers can get a $400 rebate with the purchase of a Level 2 Smart Charger. It can take 10 to 12 hours to fully charge an electric vehicle with Level 1 charging. Customers can charge their car three to four times faster by installing a 240-volt, Level 2 charger.
PSEG Long Island customers who drive electric vehicles can get a 40% discount off of the standard rate by switching to a Time of Use Rate Plan and charging overnight.

Promoting electric vehicle adoption
PSEG Long Island is also supporting the large-scale adoption of electric vehicles on Long Island and in the Rockaways with incentives on electric vehicle chargers for the home and workplace, and incentives for developers to build publicly accessible charging stations. The effort is a key part of PSEG Long Island’s work to meet New York State’s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 40% of 1990 levels by the year 2030. According to the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, about 36% of the carbon emissions in the state come from transportation, including cars, buses and trucks.
