PSEG Long Island and PSEG Foundation Support United Way of Long Island’s UNITED TOGETHER: A Response Fund for COVID-19

PSEG Foundation provides $25,000 grant to address critical needs of children and families

(UNIONDALE, N.Y. – May 21, 2020)  PSEG Long Island and the PSEG Foundation are supporting United Way of Long Island with a $25,000 grant to the organization’s newly formed fund to address critical community needs caused by the COVID-19 outbreak.

On Long Island, 1 in 3 workers lack sufficient savings to withstand a sudden loss in wages. With schools and workplaces shuttering as the pandemic unfolds, low-wage employees are experiencing financial hardship. During this unprecedented time, United Way of Long Island has established the UNITED TOGETHER: A Response Fund for COVID-19 to help alleviate disruptions to family life by providing eligible applicants with critical basic needs of food and household supplies. Visit www.unitedwayli.org/unitedtogetherfund for more information.

“PSEG Long Island has been proud to partner with and support United Way of Long Island for many years,” said Daniel Eichhorn, president and COO of PSEG Long Island and vice chair of United Way’s Board of Directors executive committee. “During this difficult time, we are grateful that the PSEG Foundation is able to provide this grant to continue our support for United Way’s important efforts.”

“We are grateful to our generous supporters, like the PSEG Foundation, who make this fund possible. Providing families with gift cards so they can afford groceries and household essentials is one way we are offering relief to our community members,” United Way of Long Island President and CEO Theresa A. Regnante said. “When there is a lack of, or limited income, it can be very difficult to decide what you will have to give up. So we are pleased to be able to help our neighbors when every dollar counts.”

PSEG Long Island customers who are experiencing difficulties as a result of the outbreak and need additional time to pay bills are encouraged to visit www.psegliny.com/myaccount.
