PSEG Long Island Employees Make Strides Against Breast Cancer

(Uniondale, NY – Oct. 21, 2019) — More than 1,000 PSEG Long Island employees, their family members and friends fought breast cancer by signing up to participate in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on Sunday morning.

The event at Jones Beach is the largest in the country. It is a five-mile, non-competitive walk on the boardwalk that celebrates survivorship and supports the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer research, education, programs and services.

Again this year, PSEG Long Island is a flagship sponsor. The 33 employee teams raised more than $60,000 to date, which does not yet include the company’s matching gifts. Once again PSEG Long Island was No. 1 in participation and No. 2 in dollars raised thus far.

“Last week we worked around the clock to restore power to more than 60,000 customers affected by Wednesday night’s storm, then on Sunday we raised $60,000 to fight breast cancer,” said Eichhorn. “I am so proud of our employees for continuously serving our community in many ways.”

PSEG Long Island is committed to giving back to the people and communities it serves by actively supporting hundreds of local charity events each year through the company’s Community Partnership Program. Last year, PSEG Long Island employees logged 26,000 service hours, volunteering at 1,145 fundraising and community events to support more than 400 organizations.
