Fire Island

Reliability Projects

We're making upgrades to enhance our system's ability to withstand extreme weather and meet energy demands.

PSEG Long Island is committed to delivering best-in-class electric reliability by hardening the electric system to better withstand extreme weather like heat waves and storms. The upgrades we are working on are necessary to keep pace with the growing demand for electricity on Fire Island. As always, customer and employee safety is our primary concern, so please be cautious when traveling near construction work zones.

PSEG Long Island will be installing a protective structure that comprises a U-shaped perimeter of stacked 3x3x3-foot sand filled geotextile bags along the bay side of the Fire Island Pines substation.
  • Ocean Beach Conversion and Reinforcement
PSEG Long Island will upgrade the electrical infrastructure on Fire Island by reconductoring 12,900 feet of existing overhead wires between Point O’ Woods and Fire Island Pines.
