Reliability Projects

We're making upgrades to enhance our system's ability to withstand extreme weather and meet energy demands.

PSEG Long Island is committed to delivering best-in-class electric reliability and to hardening the system to better withstand extreme weather like heat waves and storms.

Therefore, upgrades to the system are necessary to keep pace with the growing demand for electricity in your area and ensure greater reliability for your neighborhood. As always, customer and employee safety is our primary concern, so please be cautious when traveling near construction work zones.

  • Bridgehampton Feeder
PSEG Long Island is installing a new underground cable and upgrading overhead lines and equipment to meet current standards and growing demand for electricity in the Bridgehampton area. The project will utilize horizontal directional drilling to minimize the need to trench or otherwise disturb the roadway or properties.
  • Bridgehampton New Distribution Feeder
PSEG Long Island is installing a new underground distribution cable out of the Bridgehampton Substation located on Bridgehampton Sag Harbor Turnpike. Overhead lines, poles and equipment will be upgraded to meet current standards. PSEG Long Island will be replacing 6,235 feet of overhead primary distribution wire and 6,235 feet of overhead neutral wire. We will be installing two new wood distribution poles and replacing forty-two existing wood distribution poles with new ones. This replacement will lead to a height increase of ten feet or less in certain cases.
  • Bridgehampton Substation
Recent engineering studies and analysis by PSEG Long Island have concluded that upgrades to the Bridgehampton Substation are needed to support increased load growth that is forecasted to exceed the capacity of the Substation. The proposed Substation upgrades are necessary to provide an adequate and reliable power supply to the surrounding area.
