Greenlawn to Elwood Project

Reliability Projects

We're making upgrades to enhance our system's ability to withstand extreme weather and meet energy demands.

Project Specifics
Over the coming weeks, you will see workers strengthening the transmission lines in your area. While this work is being performed, traffic and parking will be impacted along the route. PSEG Long Island will be replacing six existing wood transmission utility poles along Elwood Road and Pulaski Road with new wood transmission poles of similar size and height. Additionally, we will be reinforcing and upgrading transmission wire splices, which will ensure that you and your neighbors receive safe, reliable electric power for years to come.

Project Route

  • Wire splice reinforcements will occur on Pulaski Road beginning northeast of Park Avenue to Elwood Road. On Elwood Road heading north until the Long Island Rail Road tracks.
  • Pole replacements will occur on Pulaski Road southwest of Stony Hollow Road heading northeast on Pulaski Road. On Elwood Road north of Pulaski Road until the Long Island Rail Road tracks.

Project Timeline

Construction is expected to begin in mid-September and be completed by the end of October. Crews will be working Monday – Friday from approximately 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Some Saturday work may be required.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will the project include new poles or pole replacements?
Yes, six replacement poles will be installed on Pulaski Road and Elwood Road with poles of similar size and height.
  • Will there be tree trimming?
Trees growing near power lines significantly increase the chance of power outages and pose safety risks. As we expand and improve our electric circuits, we will trim trees, where necessary, following our utility best practice model (ANSI A300 standards as well as the Best Management Practices Tree Pruning publication): 8 feet to each side; 12 feet above; and 10 feet below the line.
  • Will there be any power outages?
